Our society formed in 1993 to preserve our steam era heritage in a working environment and commenced with the construction of our 610mm (2’) gauge steam railway. At this stage the railway operates on the first weekend of every month, for two weeks following Christmas and for the week of MuralFest (Easter to the weekend following Easter) and on other occasions by special arrangement. Trains leave the original Sheffield Railway Station which operates both as a station and a coffee shop on the half hour from 11am to 4pm.
Steam Train rides at the original Sheffield Railway Station all throughout the year and Tasmania’s premier country festival, SteamFest, every March!
