‘Buda’ is an authentic house and garden surviving from the gold rush era in Castlemaine Victoria. Named after Budapest by its Hungarian owner, Ernest Leviny, it was home to the creative Leviny family for 118 years and houses their significant intact collection of furniture, art works and belongings and is surrounded by an historic 1.2ha garden.
Buda is open for paid public viewing year-round, and is complemented by a full events and exhibitions program. We encourage you to visit this important piece of goldfields history, which includes an onsite Nursery and Giftshop. Buda is supported by Mount Alexander Shire Council as an important historical and cultural asset of Victoria.
Open Wed to Sat 12pm – 5pm and Sundays and Public Holidays 10am to 5pm
